Earlier today, you may have read about an invention called Gorilla Glass and how they’re thinking about using it for HDTVs. Phillip Wong over at CNET.com joked in a blog post about his list of wants in a theater setup, wondering if Gorilla Glass was really necessary.
What is Gorilla Glass?
According to Wong’s blog post, it’s an ultra durable bulletproof-like glass that would go on the front of an HDTV if the deal goes through. Maybe for all those people who accidentally throw the Wii controller through the screen after getting excited about winning that virtual tennis match. Hah, or like that TV commercial where they were playing baseball and the guy’s friend says “pretend you’re really in the game” and the guy throws the control baseball pitch style right through the television.
The purpose Gorilla Glass seems to solve is much like insurance, whether it be car insurance or health insurance: a promise of reimbursement in case of damage or loss.
It’s kinda like how in life when you step out of your comfort zone how having a Gorilla Glass like attitude really comes in handy. When the “what if” questions surface, doubts start creeping in, the unbreakable glass serves to keep your mindset in check so you can keep moving forward.
Recently, you may have seen a project I put together where I stepped way out of my comfort zone. The action happened when it became more important to get out there in a big way to reach the people I am here to reach than to succumb to the uncomfortable feelings. The page I put up was a fundraising campaign to go towards me getting my hypnosis certification.
Here’s that page: http://www.BeWhoYouIs.com
Some of the thoughts that went through my head: “what will people thing” “wow this is really humbling” “what if people don’t get that it’s not about me, about how that certification represents the people who I can reach, the lives I can facilitate change in”
A wise man once said how it can be humbling, but it doesn’t have to be humiliating.
So, your personal transformation can occur just beyond the comfort zone you may hold so dear right now.
A quote from a gentleman called Bill Walsh read, “the success you want happens just outside of your comfort zone”
So, today, tomorrow, and the next day, allow yourself to do the uncomfortable things so you can allow in those things you want in your life.
Philip Wong was right, you really don’t need Gorilla Glass, all that’s required of you is to live the art of allowing it in. If the TV breaks, get a new one – if the money’s not there for a new one right now, ask for it, let go, and then find ways to have fun – to allow joy to still come into your life without the TV, and act on whatever feels inspiring to you.
Thank you, dear reader, for investing your time to see what it takes for your own personal transformation – be well.
